Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER Puducherry)

The Jawaharlal Nehru institute of postgraduate medical education and research (JIPMER Puducherry) is always rated as one of the best medical colleges in India.

Situated in Pondicherry (Puducherry), a union territory in southern India, it is an institute of national importance. Apart from being the one to be ranked among the top five medical colleges in the country, it also caters to a large number of Indian populations providing them with inexpensive yet advanced medical care.

The history of JIPMER dates back to the setting up of a medical school in Pondicherry by the French government in the year 1823 to train French citizens in modern medicine. In 1956, the government of independent India occupied the administration of the institute and the hospital was later rechristened JIPMER after the death of the great Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. View More
